Dionisio Gonzalez FAVELAS

Nova Heliópolis III, 2004

The photographer Dionisio Gonzalez can be considered to be a virtual architect.  He digitally interweaves real and fictional images to create a new vision for his subject: the Favelas or shantytowns of Brazil. The grim reality of poor housing conditions and unemployment stands out  with the imagined modern structural "renovations" that the artist has digitally created. They conspicuously sit side by side unbeknownst to the locals with only the brilliant sunlight to expose their improbable arrangement.  Perfect for most.  The exhibit is up until April 7th.
